Director of Operations – Mission Critical | Houston, TX

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Operations to lead and expand a growing Mission Critical & Data Center construction division. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for driving business growth, delivering successful projects, and building a high-performing team that sets the standard for operational excellence in the sector.

As Director of Operations, you will oversee all aspects of project execution, including client satisfaction, delivery, and profitability. You’ll work closely with executive leadership to shape long-term strategy, strengthen client relationships, and guide teams in winning and delivering complex, high-value projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project execution, ensuring on-time, high-quality, and profitable delivery
• Oversee preconstruction, estimating, and proposal preparation
• Drive strategic pursuits through effective positioning and contract negotiations
• Build and maintain executive-level client relationships while identifying new opportunities
• Collaborate with business development, marketing, and leadership on pursuit strategies
• Mentor and grow high-performing teams within the mission critical unit
• Monitor competitor landscape to refine winning strategies and mitigate risks
• Act as a client advocate, ensuring clear communication between stakeholders and operations teams
• Support talent acquisition and leadership development initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field
• 15+ years of construction experience, with at least 7 years in senior leadership in Mission Critical/Data Center projects
• Proven success in operations leadership, client development, and large-scale project delivery
• Strong ability to develop teams, build executive relationships, and deliver strategies for growth
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
