Controller – Upstream

Location: Houston, TX

Our client, a dynamic and growing Private Equity-backed company focused on Upstream Oil & Gas, is looking to add a Controller to their high-performing team.

This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to drive strategic accounting initiatives and support continued growth in the energy sector.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Lead the preparation and publication of accurate, timely monthly financial statements
• Manage core accounting functions: Corporate Accounting, Technical Accounting, Consolidations, Close Process, External Audit, and Financial Reporting
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles to ensure smooth and efficient operations
• Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors to support a timely and successful audit process
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align accounting operations with broader business objectives
• Enhance internal controls by developing and documenting policies and processes
• Mentor and leadership experience required

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar leadership role
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Active CPA license
• Strong background in Upstream Operations Accounting is required

Location & Schedule:

• In-office role based in Downtown Houston
• 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off!)
