Field Service Technician – Electrical Power Systems
Job Description
We’re hiring a Field Service Technician to join a leading service provider in the electrical power sector, serving critical infrastructure and industrial clients across Texas. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering reliable service on-site.
You’ll perform testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of power distribution systems ranging from low to high voltage, using cutting-edge diagnostic tools and working in dynamic field environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems up to 500kV
- Perform acceptance testing on transformers using Doble, TTR, and insulation resistance meters
- Calibrate and test electro-mechanical and solid-state protective relays
- Conduct cable testing: Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
- Service and repair ATS, switchgear, and circuit breakers
- Respond to emergency calls on a rotating schedule
- Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety procedures
- Document test results and communicate clearly with clients and internal teams
What You Bring
- 5+ years of field experience with electrical power systems
- Strong working knowledge of transformers, switchgear, and protective relays
- Familiarity with safety regulations, testing equipment, and procedures
- Technical training, NETA certification, or military background (preferred)
- Self-directed, safety-conscious, and effective under pressure
- Willing to travel to customer sites across the assigned region
- Strong communication and documentation skills
