Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to support the development of innovative reactor technologies. This role involves high-level technical modeling and analysis in core physics, shielding, thermal-hydraulics, and fuel performance. Ideal candidates will bring strong computational skills and a collaborative mindset to help shape the future of advanced nuclear systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine advanced reactor simulation tools using Serpent, MCNP, OpenMC, and related platforms
- Perform detailed subchannel flow and heat transfer modeling within reactor cores
- Conduct shielding and radiation transport simulations using variance reduction techniques
- Use multiphysics tools (e.g., MOOSE, BISON, MARMOT) to assess thermomechanical behavior and structural performance
- Apply statistical and computational techniques to evaluate simulation confidence and design sensitivities
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to contribute to system-level reactor innovation and decision-making
Required Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- 5–7+ years of experience in nuclear reactor simulation, modeling, or advanced energy systems
- Proficiency with tools such as Serpent, MCNP, OpenMC, MOOSE, BISON, ANSYS, or COMSOL
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges in reactor design or performance modeling
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in multidisciplinary settings
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or otherwise eligible under DOE Part 810 export control regulations
