Job Description

We’re hiring on behalf of our client for a Senior Circuit Breaker Technician in the Beaumont–Port Arthur area. This is a hands-on role in a newly launched electrical equipment service shop, with occasional travel for on-site testing and outage support. The position offers an exciting opportunity to help shape a growing operation while leading by example in breaker repair, refurbishment, and service excellence.

Key Duties

  • Perform detailed disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of circuit breakers and related electrical equipment.
  • Refurbish low, medium, and high-voltage breakers to “like-new” condition.
  • Troubleshoot issues in switchgear, contactors, and distribution systems.
  • Conduct acceptance testing and preventive maintenance using industry-standard equipment.
  • Work with a range of breakers, including air, vacuum, and SF6 types.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to refine processes and maintain efficient shop operations.
  • Support occasional field assignments for testing, commissioning, and outage services.
  • Mentor junior technicians, ensuring high-quality standards and safe work practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience with industrial circuit breakers and switchgear.
  • Strong mechanical repair and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with insulation resistance testers, relay testers, hi-pot testers, and injection sets.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and power distribution.
  • Senior-level certification (e.g., PEARL Level 3 or equivalent) preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
