Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with strong project leadership experience to join our capital delivery team supporting a major water utility. This role combines hands-on civil design expertise with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
You’ll play a critical role in designing and delivering water infrastructure, coordinating with stakeholders, resolving project challenges, and ensuring technical quality. Typical projects include control valves, storage tanks, pump stations, pressure tanks, pipelines, and water treatment plants, spanning both new installations and upgrades.
What You’ll Do
- Perform and review civil engineering design for drinking water system projects (piping, pump stations, wells, storage tanks, treatment plants, etc.)
- Lead project teams across civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
- Serve as the primary technical contact for stakeholders and guide permitting processes
- Oversee scope, schedule, budget, and risk management for successful delivery
- Manage consultant work, review change orders, and process invoices
- Facilitate meetings with utility staff, contractors, and consultants to ensure collaboration and problem-solving
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 6–10 years of engineering and project management experience in water utility or public infrastructure
- Strong design background in drinking water systems (piping, booster stations, etc.)
- Knowledge of CPUC, DDW, municipal standards, permitting, and capital delivery processes
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups
- Proven ability to lead projects from design through completion
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification
- PMP or equivalent project management credential
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Power BI, or Primavera
- Experience with Design-Bid-Build or alternative delivery methods
- Knowledge of ESG goals, CPUC compliance, and infrastructure resilience
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $150K–$205K per year
