Senior Estimator | Underground Wet Utilities

Job Description

We’re hiring a Senior Estimator – Underground Wet Utilities to join a highly respected underground construction company that has delivered complex pipeline infrastructure for over 25 years. Based in Riverside County, CA, this is a leadership role focused on civil estimating for sewer, storm drain, fire line, and water systems — serving Southern California’s top developers, contractors, and municipalities.

You’ll play a key role in winning work, refining bid strategies, and mentoring the next generation of estimating talent.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for wet utility and underground pipeline projects
• Lead pre-bid meetings, job site walks, and scope reviews with clients
• Analyze plans, specs, soils reports, and agency standards for accurate takeoffs
• Use software like PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or OST to perform quantity surveys and bid prep
• Present estimates during internal reviews and support project handoffs
• Partner with operations to refine constructability plans, change orders, and forecasting
• Provide mentorship and oversight to junior estimators

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in civil estimating, especially wet utilities
• Proven understanding of agency specifications, construction drawings, and pipeline standards
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and digital takeoff software
• Excellent time management with the ability to handle multiple bids concurrently
• Clear communication and leadership skills; collaborative by nature
• Background in sewer, storm drain, fire line, and potable water infrastructure preferred
