Location: Denver Metropolitan Area
We are currently looking to hire a Substation Engineering manager for our client to be based in Denver, this is a hybrid role and will provide relocation if required. Our client is a market leading EPC who over the last 3 years have seen exponential growth and are looking to hire a Substation Engineering Manager for this reason.
As the Engineering Manager for Electrical Substations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, engineering, and implementation of high-voltage electrical substations. You will lead a team of skilled engineers and technical specialists, ensuring the successful delivery of projects from conception to completion while adhering to quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project management, procurement, and operations, to drive efficiency and innovation in our substation engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and engineering of high-voltage electrical substations, including layout, equipment specification, protection and control systems, and grounding design.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and customer requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to resolve complex engineering challenges and optimize substation designs for efficiency and reliability.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical substation projects, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists.
- Coordinate and review the work of up to 5 engineers and designers.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; master’s degree and PE license are also preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on substation design and project management alongside a proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget. An in-depth knowledge of electrical substation design principles, equipment, and technologies, including familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, and IEC are also key.
